Brian McNurlen is an Assistant Director in DoIT Academic Technology and manages the Learning Technology and Distance Education group (LTDE). He leads a team of 35 academic technology professionals and over 20 student employees who support the following services: Faculty Engagement, Software Training for Students, Learner Experience: Training & Support, Online Course Production, Video Production, and Strategic Learning Technology Consulting. Brian serves campus IT governance through the Teaching & Learning Technology Advisory Group. He also represents campus as a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance Learning Technology group. His educational background is in educational psychology and program evaluation. Previously Brian worked in IT at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, supporting learning technology and space resources and as a researcher in the Center for the Study of Reading. He has published and presented on subjects as diverse as children’s classroom discussion behaviors, technology enhanced learning space benchmarking, academic achievement motivation, and the academic productivity of faculty.
